In the process of completing the semester project, all students are expected to participate fully. To ensure that we all benefit as much as possible, all students will read and follow this agreement.
Guidelines:
- Roles -- especially process roles -- will be rotated during the project.
- Project work will be divided evenly.
- All members will be team players by being prepared, participating, and attending
group meetings.
- All differences will be resolved through constructive criticism and using non-judgmental language.
- The group will be responsible for being sure all members understand the project
tasks.
- The group will maintain evaluations of how it functioned on each assignment or portion of the assignment.
- Look and listen - use appropriate eye contact and refer to members by their
names.
Process Roles in the Group:
- Facilitator/leader: Directs group work on the assignment; assures the work is equally divided;
encourages participation by all; sets schedules and time frames, as applicable; and, facilitates
all members carrying out their respective roles.
- Recorder/evaluator: Documents summary of group's discussions; completes Roles and
Responsibilities charts; and, obtains signatures of all group members participating on each
assignment or portion of assignments, as appropriate.
- Elaborator(s): Asks questions, seeks elaboration or extension on input of others, serves as
devil's advocate to encourage multiple perspectives on issues, as appropriate.
- Summarizer/mediator: Integrates and verbally summarizes ideas; checks for understanding by
all members; helps resolve differences; and, asks for clarification, as needed.
