We’re Not Done!

  • Take the WBS estimate, the Historical estimates, and the Function Point estimate and reconcile them.

  • Provide the estimate to the customer.

This is not the ‘final’ estimate. Estimates continue to be refined during the project to make sure tasks are on-track.

Notes:

Look for disconnects that can’t be explained. You may need to go back and rework some of the estimates.
Do this with other project and technical leads. Use the customer if they have been involved.
Remember, this may be the estimate everyone remembers and the contract is written against. However, you do have to continue to estimate for each phase to make sure you are on track. It depends upon the size and the assumptions.
