Young Highlights

Ella Flagg Young School

Do the names Miss Casey, Mrs. Marek and Mrs. Luczak ring a bell? Does the picture above look familiar? Did you wear ribbons like those to your right? Did you learn to sew and knit on Wednesday afternoons? Do you recognize the people in this fourth grade photo or those in the sixth grade photo?

If so, we want to hear from you! If you were one of the people who were with us at Young -- student or teacher -- please email Timothy Cruickshank.

Other News

Do you know what Ella Flagg Young did to earn having a school named after her? Neither did we, but check it out! Upon her death in 1919, Jane Addams wrote of Young, "She had more general intelligence and character than any other woman I knew." Why didn't they tell us these things?

Did you know Miss Casey died in June, 2005? Read the sad story, view her obituary as it appeared in the Chicago Tribune, and view the obituary guestbook.
