Transcript Requests

HOW TO REQUEST A TRANSCRIPT

All transcript requests must be made in writing or submitted through our online request system and must include the student’s signature or electronic approval. All financial holds must be cleared on the student account before the request can be processed.

1.  Order a transcript online (if you have an attachment to be sent with your transcript, please select one of the other request methods listed below) In order to request your transcript online you must sign in using your Single Sign On (SSO ID) and password.  To retreive your SSO id and password visit  https://myview.umsl.edu and select the Look up My User ID (SSO ID)/Forgot my Passowrd option.

2.  Fax the transcript request form to 314-516-7096

3.  Mail the transcript request to:

4.  Visit the Records Office - 269 MSC (Millennium Student Center)

Be sure to include: 1) Your current name and your name while enrolled 2) Student or Social Security number 3) Birth date 4) The approximate date you last attended

Include the full address or fax number, (faxed transcripts may be considered Unofficial by the receiving organization), where the transcript is to be sent. To hold for final grades or degree posting, check the appropriate box and indicate the year/term. Final grades are usually posted within one week of the end of the semester. Degree posting occurs approximately 6-8 weeks after the end of the semester.

    • What is the cost of an official transcript?
      • The cost for a transcript is $5 per copy.

    • What are the payment options for an official transcript?
      • Transcript requests ordered Online or by Fax must be paid by credit card. The University of Missouri - St. Louis accepts Discover, American Express, MasterCard or Visa.
      • Transcript requests ordered through the mail can be paid by credit card, personal check or money order.
      • Requests delivered in person can be paid with cash, check, or credit card.

    • How long will it take to receive my transcript? Assuming there are no holds on the account:
      • Transcript requests received by mail are processed within three to five business days. Mailed transcripts are sent standard 1st class postage and take up to 10 days to be delivered by the postal service.
      • Requests received through our online ordering system that are delivered by mail or fax are sent the next business day after receipt.
      • Requests received through our online ordering system that are delivered electronically to an email address are sent within a few hours, if your request was received during normal business hours which are Monday-Friday from 8am to 4pm. If your order was received outside of normal business hours it will be processed at the beginning of the next business day.
      • Requests received through our online ordering system to be picked up in our office will be available 24 hours after the request is submitted. .
      • Transcripts requested in person to "take away" are produced on demand.
      • Transcripts held for current semester grades are mailed approximately five days after the end of the term.
      • Transcripts held for degree postings are mailed approximately four – six weeks after the end of the term.

    • What happens if I have a hold on my account?
      • All holds must be cleared before your transcript can be released.

    • Do you provide express mail delivery?
      • Yes, for an additional charge, but only available when ordering by fax, mail, or in person
      • Domestic express delivery is an additional $20.00 fee
      • International express delivery varies.  Please call the office.

    • Can I let someone else pick up my transcript?
      • Yes, but you must indicate the name of the person, and state that they have your permission to pick up your transcript on your behalf on the request form.  The recipient must show a photo ID to receive the transcript.

    • Can I order a notarized transcript?
      • Yes, contact our office at 314 516 6930 for ordering instructions.

    • How do I obtain a completed "Registrar Report" if I'm using the Common Application system?
      • The official transcript documents the grade point average (term and cumulative) and is used to verify academic "good standing" and eligibility to return to the University of Missouri.
      • Please submit your request for an official transcript and the form to our office simultaneously. Our office will include the form with your official transcript when it is sent to its destination.

    • What are electronically delivered transcripts?
      • The University of Missouri - St. Louis, in partnership with the National Student Clearinghouse now provides transcripts that can be sent to an email address. These transcripts are digital, signed copies of the student’s record in a secure PDF file format.

    • Are electronically delivered transcripts considered official transcripts?
      • The university considers an electronic transcript an official copy. However, as with transcripts issued or sent to the student, electronic transcripts may be considered unofficial by a receiving party.

    • Is my information secure when sent electronically?
      • Electronic document security is provided by our partners at the National Student Clearinghouse. Their security statement says "The Clearinghouse employs multiple technologies and operational safeguards, including information security best practices and industry standards such as 128-bit secure communication. All data in transit is secured via SSL connections to protect the student records and documents in our care. We also take active defensive measures that limit the risk of lost or stolen data." http://www.transcriptservices.org/faq.php

    • Can my transcript be altered once it has been received?
      • No, the electronic transcript cannot be modified. The PDF transcript is locked to prevent tampering. Should a copy be made and the document altered the digital signature will be lost thus alerting the recipient that it may not be accurate.

    • Can I send an attached form with my electronic transcript?
      • Not at this time. We are exploring the possibility of adding attachment capability but do not have an implementation date.

    • How long will my electronic transcript be accessible once it has been received?
      • The recipient has 30 days to retrieve and download the transcript. Once downloaded to your computer the transcript does not expire and will always remain secure. Later the recipient may retrieve it, forward it, etc. just as one would do with any PDF document.
