This Federal Government site has resources for teachers of all subjects. Its title, 'Free Federal Resources for Educational Excellence'. Under the heading, Subjects, listed on the sidebar, I clicked Social Studies and found topics from Anthropology through World History. Also on the Social Studies page is an 'All social studies resources', heading. There appeared to be well over 100 resources, in alphabetical order, from Federal agencies and institutions such as the Library of Congress and the National Parks Service. Included were many projects, which developed resources with funding through the National Endowment for the Humanities. I randomly selected You Be the Historian, a resource from the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, probably because it reminded me of "You Be the Judge". I got to see whether I could figure out what life was like during a specific time by looking at objects and documents that people of that time left behind. This is a web based adapted lesson from the Hands On History room at the museum. There is a 'For Teachers' section, a 'Questions for Future Historians' that can be used with the printed or internet material and a 'Not Just For Kids' section that provides additional activities.
