Chapter 19, Drill e: practice using three past tenses.

In each short Latin sentence, the English verb in parentheses expresses some past time. Provide the correct Latin tense to express the aspect implied in the English phrase.

Example:
Quintus gratias patri saepe (gave). (N.B.: gratias agere = to thank, to give thanks) Answer: agebat : Although the English phrase seems to be a simple snapshot past action, the adverb saepe tells you that the action was repeated, so imperfect is the correct choice.

2. Orbilius ianuam (opened).
