Chapter 19, Drill c: practice using the pluperfect (past perfect) tense.

In each short Latin sentence, the English verb in parentheses expresses time before the action of the main verb, expressed or implied. Provide the correct Latin form of the pluperfect (past perfect).

Example:
cum dies iam (had come), Quintus iter iniit. Answer: venerat .

1. puer statuam (had broken) cum custos eum conspexit.
2. Quintus tam alta aedificia numquam (had seen).
3. vir quidam Curiam (had kindled, i.e. set on fire).
4. in Flavii ludo Quintus Graecas litteras non bene (had learned)(use disco).
5. Quintus aedificium conspexit. quis ianuas (had opened)?
6. pater Quintum in mediam urbem (had led); nunc templum Iovis spectabant.
7. Quintus tristis erat, quod via difficilis (had been), et territus erat.
8. Quintus laetus erat et saepe (had thanked [gratias agere]) patri.
