Chapter 17, Drill f: practice using the perfect (present perfect) and imperfect tenses.

In each Latin sentence, the verb in English in parentheses should be either imperfect or perfect (present perfect) tense. Based on the meaning (aspect), provide the correct tense in the requested person and number.

Example:
magnum sonum audivimus dum magistrum (we were looking at). Answer: spectabamus: since the looking at was going on at the time of the noise, but the sentence tells us nothing about whether our looking ended then, use imperfect.

1. diu (we shouted).
2. hostes (were going away [use discedo]) cum princeps clamavit.
3. hostes discedebant cum princeps (shouted).
4. Romani in Italia diu (lived [use habito]).
5. magister pueros domum misit quod eum non (were listening [use audio]).
6. dormiebam cum (you [singular] entered [use intro]).
7. (He was sleeping) cum intravi.
8. magister pueros domum (sent) quod eum non audiebant.
9. cur in via (were you [plural] fighting)?
10. pueri taciti erant quod magister (was telling) fabulam pulchram.
11. magister pueros domum misit quod eum non (they were listening to).
12. magister pueros in ludum ducebat cum nuntius (approached [use accedo]).
13. milites semper mortem (feared).
14. Romani (used to overcome) multos hostes.
15. Cicero gravem orationem (gave [use habeo]).
