Chester (approximately 100,000 population) is located in Cheshire, near the River Dee, very close to the Welsh border. It is about 20Kms south of Liverpool.

Chester City's great football rival is Wrexham ("The Robins"). Wrexham is currently in the Nationwide Division 2.

Cheshire has another important football team, Crewe Alexandra ("The Railwaymen"), currently in the Nationwide First Division.
