Christine Gavett, O.D.
Dr. Gavett graduated from UM-St. Louis in 1991, earning both a B.S. in Biology and Doctorate in Optometry. She explored a wide variety of primary care clinical settings prior to joining the faculty at UM-St. Louis in 2008.
After graduation, she worked in private practices (both primary care and behavioral), commercial settings, and within the Missouri Department of Corrections for nine years.
Utilizing her background as an LPN (1978-1991), Dr. Gavett provides primary care supervision for third and fourth year student clinicians at various clinics, chart documentation oversight and audit, and electronic medical record instruction to students and faculty. She also lectures on these subjects, OSHA standards, and hypertension. Dr. Gavett counsels fourth year students while on externship, facilitates preclinic training with first and second year students, and is certified with the American Heart Association (AHA) in Basic Life Support for health care providers. Her most recent interest involves humanitarian aid trips to provide eye care to those in need in foreign countries.
