The Nurse Educator

 

The Nurse Educator Role prepares nurses to teach in basic nursing programs, staff development or community education. The MSN Nurse Educator Role requires a minimum of 41 credit hours. Clinical activities are focused on enactment of the role and a clinical population and involve 256 clinical hours. Students complete 12 credit hours of core course work that focus on issues and concepts critical to understanding the rapidly changing health care system. These courses address values in health care decision making, policy and finance in health care organizations, societal issues impacting health, population-based foundations of health, theoretical foundations and research for evidence-based practice. A greater understanding of the individual role is achieved through completion of the remaining 29 credit hours.
