In collaboration with researchers from Weill-Cornell Medical College, we are trying to determine the relationship between
eye- target synchrony and attention in mild traumatic brain injury patients during smooth pursuit of a moving visual target. Mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) can lead to chronic attentional deficit which, due to the current lack of reliable diagnostic tests, might remain undetected. The evidence suggests that smooth pursuit eye movements (SPEM) are modulated by attentional processes. To test this, subjects track a target while loaded with tasks involving working memory. In our analysis we use stochastic phase synchronization between the time series of the eyes and target.
