Department of Military and Veteran Studies

The mission of the Department of Military and Veterans Studies is to enable success for current and future veterans on campus and to create a researched-based curriculum for students who are interested in studying the veteran experience.

Student Services:

The Department of Military and Veterans Studies enables success for current and future veterans primarily though the UMSL Veterans Center.  The Veterans Center exists to assist veterans in their transition from military to campus life.  It is a one-stop resource center, staffed by student veterans and veteran volunteers, committed to facilitating and coordinating the overall integration of veterans into the UMSL academic community.  The UMSL Veterans Center is UMSL Veterans serving UMSL Veterans!

Academic programs:

Military and Veterans Studies provides academic programs leading to one of two undergraduate minors or a bachelor’s degree (through the interdisciplinary studies program).  Coursework is mulit-disciplinary and it is designed for students of any background and any major. Military and Veterans Studies students will graduate with a nuanced understanding of the military and veteran experience, the role veterans play in our society, and the obligations our society might hold towards this subset of our population.
