Financial Aid
Most applicants admitted to the UMSL Graduate Program in Museum Studies also receive offers of financial aid. This assistance is funded through a combination of contributions by endowed program faculty, contributions by partner museums in the St. Louis region, and contributions by the UMSL Graduate School. (Faculty contributions draw on the endowments generously funded by St. Louis philanthropist E. Desmond Lee.)
The financial aid usually takes the form of a fellowship that covers a portion of the tuition fees, or a Graduate Research Assistantship that covers all fees, and pays a stipend of $7,500 per year for living expenses. GRAs work twenty hours per week in a museum, archive or museum-related project during the school year. These options are described in greater detail on the link to the left.
For students who are not residents of Missouri, a waiver of the non-resident tuition surcharge may also be arranged. Graduate Research Assistants automatically receive waivers of non-resident fees if necessary.
Application for Museum Studies financial aid is made by a letter sent directly to:

Tell us whether you are interested in a Graduate Research Assistantship (which requires you to work an average of twenty hours per week during the school year), or only wish to be considered for fellowships that do not require you to work.
Please note that all other application materials should be sent to the Graduate Admissions Office or the International Student Services Office. The application for Museum Studies financial aid is the only item that should be sent directly to Dr. Rounds.
