Museum Studies

Careers

This is a professional training program, designed to help students get a good job, and build a successful museum career. We offer rigorous classroom training in practical skills and practice-oriented theory. Most students also receive paid on-the-job training as graduate research assistants in one of our cooperating museums.

Graduates of the UMSL Museum Studies Program are now employed as museum directors, curators, educators, exhibit developers, archivists, collections managers, registrars, personnel specialists and other positions. They're in small, mid-sized and large museums, all over the United States and several foreign countries. They're in history museums, art museums, science museums, historic houses, archives, and libraries.
