WWW Calendar of Events Tool (Version 1.0)
Installation Notes

This system consists of a form which users fill out; information from the form is then sent via email to a designated individual; the recipient uses a word processor to cut text from the email message and paste it into a monthly calendar template file accessible on the World Wide Web (e.g., UM-St. Louis' Calendar of Events).

Step 1. MANDATORY
Retrieve and Modify Submission Form submitfm.html

Latest Version of Submission Form (1.0)

To download the form select the Latest Version link above, then use your WWW browser's native "File Save" capability to make a local copy. For example, using Netscape's browser, use the pull-down menu for "File" then choose "Save as ..." to create a local copy of the file submitfm.html.

Load the copy of submitfm.html into an ASCII or HTML text editor. Comments are imbedded in the form with directions on modifying it for your use. You MUST change email addresses for recipients of the form's contents as directed inside this file.

Step 2. OPTIONAL
Retrieve and Modify Submission Form Template submitfm-template

Latest Version of Submission Form Template (1.0)

Information entered by the user using submitfm.html will be formatted based on the image of the submitfm-template file. You may point to an alternate location for your own submitfm-template file by modifying the submission form per the directions inside submitfm.html.

Step 3. MANDATORY
Retrieve and Modify Calendar Templates

Templates for current 12 Months

The "current 12 months" files consist of files which can be used with no modification whatsoever. Link to these files and use your browser's native "file save" capability to retrieve them.

Step 4. OPTIONAL
Retrieve and Modify Empty and Thanks Files

Fields in submitfm.html which require something to be entered in them start with "REQ". If one of those fields is left empty, the user will see the file emptyfile.html appear on their screen. In order to use your own version of this file you will need to modify submitfm.html to point to your own copy.

When a form is properly filled out and sent via email, the user will see the file thankyoufile.html on their screen. In order to use your own version of this file you will need to modify submitfm.html to point to your own copy.

Step 5. MANDATORY
Retain Local Copies, and Upload and Use

Upload your "month" files and the submission form to your WWW site. Point users to the submission form to have requests for calendar additions to be sent to you via email.Point users to the month templates to see schedule events.
