Mother & Child
Bronze
Mother and Child is one of my few fairly literal pieces. It needs little or no explanation. While I often refer to this piece descriptively as "my pregnant lady" or "my pregnancy," the title implies that I personally consider parenthood to have already started. This piece was made using the lost wax method. The patina was achieved by brushing on ferric nitrate, followed by cupric nitrate, followed by liver of sulfur, and sealed with a paste wax. Most of my work is not this literal, but it is usually figurative and always employs the sensuality of curves and rounded forms. I intend for it to invite touch.
