Mexican Café, Mexico City, Balloon
Man
Oil
The three works selected for the Electronic Gallery are all oil paintings on canvas. My work has always been figurative and narrative, drawing upon my personal experiences with places I have lived or visited. Balloon Man is a work about four feet square in which two images have been mixed using images from a local "jockey lot" in the upstate of South Carolina where I live. The painting Mexico City reflects a mixed impression of the city through a street demonstration of college students and a superimposition of an Aztec relief and cactus. Mexican Café is a fairly straightforward painting except it implies movement in the figure, which is not reflected in the mirror, a painting within the painting.
