Biology 440:  Ecological Research in Temperate Zones (Fall 2000)

Pioneer Forest, Missouri Ozarks

This field trip will focus on aquatic ecosystems and upland forests of the Missouri Ozarks.  Located in the heart of the Missouri Ozarks, Pioneer Forest camp is situated alongside Sinking Creek, a sparkling clear water creek that flows into the Current River.  The upland forest is an oak-hickory-pine forest, which is privately owned and naturally managed to protect watersheds and preserve ecologically important areas.  We will conduct aquatic and upland forest field projects at this site on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10.
