Discoverers (approximately 2 ½ to 4 years) have interest centers such as block, library, dramatic play and housekeeping, manipulatives, science, sensory and art areas within their classroom. Planning is done which offers activities each child or a group of children may need to further their development. The children are involved in some aspects of the planning. The activities can be extensions of interest centers or can evolve around projects the class is working on. The activities may fall into categories of development such as music, math, science and literacy to name a few. At mealtime the children eat together at tables, serve themselves and are encouraged to try all foods, but are never forced to eat. We will bring in enrichment programs from the community throughout the year. These enrichment programs usually require a small additional fee per program. The children in this group must be using the toilet fairly regularly and be able to dress and undress with simple clothing. The group size is 16 with 2 teachers.
