HANNAH PERKINS
My name is Hannah and I am a Sophmore/Junior (hopefully a Junior after I complete my summer classes). My major has changed from Sociology to Public Policy Administration, however Sociology is something that I am intensely interested in. One of my main hobbies is participating in a project called couchsurfing. It is an online community founded to make traveling easier for people all over the world. Some people may feel a bit uneasy about the project since it consists of allowing people you don't know to stay at your home while visiting the city you live in. I have been surfing for almost two years and have hosted over twenty times with up to four people at once and I have surfed twice, once in London and once in Chicago. All of my experiences have been invaluable. I have had a blast meeting so many different people from so many different backgrounds, cultures, and societies. I have had British, Irish, Australian, Dutch, Belgian, Canadian, Swedish, Polish, and Isreali surfers. I have also had people from every corner of the U.S. stay with me. I see this as real life exercises in Sociology. I have learned alot about the world and about how other societies exercise social and political policies.
