Kathy J. Gentile Director: Kathy J. Gentile, Associate Professor, English and Women’s and Gender Studies, Ph.D., University of Oregon.

Dr. Gentile has published a book on the iconoclastic British novelist, Ivy Compton-Burnett, and articles on the expatriate American, avant-garde writer, Jane Bowles, as well as studies of the female gothic and the uncanny. Over the years, Dr. Gentile has taught courses on feminist criticism, gender theory and popular culture, female gothic, genres and genders of comedy, Jane Austen, and the Brontes.
   
Nanora Sweet Nanora Sweet, Associate Professor, English and Women’s and Gender Studies. Ph.D., University of Michigan.

Dr. Nan Sweet teaches poetry and the work of Romantic writers, women poets, and explorers between East and West who aim to change society and reshape history as we know it. She is interested in the material circumstances of writers in a gendered world. Dr. Sweet is an international expert on Romantic poet Felicia Hemans, the author of two chapbooks of poetry, and a lifetime member of the women’s poetry collective Loosely Identified.
   
Deborah Cohen. Assistant Professor, History and Women’s and Gender Studies. Ph. D., University of Chicago .

Dr. Cohen has published articles on gender, race, and nation formation in Mexico and the U.S. Her interests include theories of feminism and post-colonialism, critical race theory, queer theory, and the growing field of transnational history. She teaches History of Women in the U.S. , Feminist Theory, History of Women in Comparative Cultures, and History of Sexuality.
   
Farida Jalalzai, Assistant Professor, Political Science and Women’s and Gender Studies. Ph.D., University of Buffalo.

Dr. Jalalzai’s research interests are women leaders in comparative perspectives and gender and political behavior. She teaches Women and the Law, Women, Gender, and Culture, and courses in gender and leadership.
   

Assistant Director: Kathleen Nigro, Assistant Teaching Professor, Institute for Women’s and Gender Studies .Ph.D., St. Louis University.

Dr. Nigro' s research interests are gender and nature writing and St. Louis women writers. She teaches Women, Gender, and Culture, Feminism and Witchcraft, Women and Nature Writing, and 19th- century Spiritualism.

   

Kristin Carbone-Lopez, Assistant Criminology & Criminal Justice Ph.D., University of Minnesota.

Dr. Carbone-Lopez's research considers the interaction of gender, crime and victimization, with a particular emphasis on violence between intimate partners. She teaches Gender, Crime and Justice as well as other courses that focus on women, victimization and crime.
   
Zoë Peterson, Assistant Professor Psychology . Ph.D., University of Kansas

Dr. Peterson’s teaching and research interests are in the areas of gender and human sexuality. She is particularly interested in young adults’ experiences with nonconsensual and unwanted sex. She teaches Psychology of Women and Women and Mental Health.
