International Student Orientation


We are glad you chose UMSL and look forward to welcoming you to the campus community! Please note that orientation is required for all new students at the University. During orientation, you will:

  • Complete immigration check-in and learn about your status

  • Learn about academic programs and advising

  • Take the English placement exam

  • Connect with other UMSL students

  • Discover student organizations on campus

  • Go shopping

  • Gather tips about safety, health, and cultural adjustment

  • Get to know the campus and the city of St. Louis


On the first day of orientation, please bring:

  • Your I-20 or DS-2019

  • Your passport and visa

  • Your local St. Louis address

  • The phone and email information of your emergency contact person

  • All of the above items for any dependent (spouse and/or children)

Undergraduate Students

When:

January 9 -11, starting on Monday at 8:00 a.m.

All degree-seeking undergraduate students are required to submit an enrollment confirmation fee before arriving at UMSL. Please submit your enrollment confirmation fee here.

The fee is $75 for first-time freshmen and $50 for transfer students. The enrollment fee is not required for visiting or exchange students.



Graduate Students

When:

January 9 -10, starting on Monday at 8:00 a.m.
