If you're interested in getting a bachelor's degree in Information Systems in less time, for less money and with great job opportunities upon graduation, the new Innovation Campus St. Louis Program is designed for you.
The program’s objectives include:
- accelerating the time to achieve a college degree,
- providing applied-learning experiences for students,
- lowering the cost for students to complete a degree, and
- graduating students with no to minimal debt and direct access to a job.
Students in the 2013 St. Louis Innovation Campus program will work toward a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems (additional target industries will be added in following years, such as biotechnology, allied health, and financial services, etc.). Beginning their junior year of high school, students will be positioned to earn both a high school diploma and a baccalaureate degree in five years. Participants will start their post-secondary education at St. Louis Community College and then transfer to University of Missouri-St. Louis to finish their degree.
The curriculum, developed with the input of business partners, is outcomes driven and performance based. The program consists of a combination of conventional classes; online courses; dual credit, advanced placement and special credit courses; learning communities; and apprenticeships, internships and applied-learning experiences.
Innovation Campus St. Louis integrates exciting classroom learning with programs such as Global Game Jam, the world's largest game programing event; and Xtreme IT, a week-long summer program in which high school students are exposed to a range of IT applications as well as dorm living at a University. Internships with Innovation Campus business partners offers another important opportunity for students, which helps participants gain the experience that employers require. Business partners also hire a certain number of Innovation Campus graduates as part of their participation in the program.
