Eligibility: Those under 26 with GPA's of 3.7 are eligible. Most winners intend academic or public service careers.

Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs

Eligibility: Applicants must be US citizens of African American, Hispanic American, American Indian/Alaska Native American, or Asian Pacific American descent.

Golden Key Scholar Awards
Sponsor: Golden Key National Honor Society
Award: $500 - $10,000

Eligibility: Must be a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society; no GPA requirement. Strong campus and community service and academic record are needed. Different requirements for each scholarship, so refer to the website for more details.

Goldwater Scholarship

Eligibility: Open to sophomores and juniors who are majoring in the physical sciences, math, life sciences (not pre-med) and engineering, have excellent GPA's, and are interested in research careers.

Harry S. Truman Scholarship

Eligibility: Must be a junior, have a good GPA, a track record in public service and leadership, and intend to enter a graduate program leading to a career in public service. UCI students have won.

Hertz Fellowship

Eligibility:
Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who will have bachelor's degrees in physics, chemistry, applied math, engineering or computer science at the start of the fellowship. Apply as seniors or graduate students.

Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship

Award: Up to $30,000 annually while completing an undergraduate degree

Eligibility: Sophomore or junior enrolled in a four year institution who has a high level of achievement as demonstrated by superior grades, academically rigorous courses, and participation in challenging extracurricular activities, especially those demonstrating leadership potential.

James Madison Memorial Fellowship

Award: up to $24,000

Eligibility: Open to seniors and recent graduates who plan to attend full-time graduate study leading to a master's degree and who intend to become secondary American history/social studies teachers.

Mitchell Scholarship

Award: Full tuition and room, $11,000/yr stipend to cover other necessary expenses, travel stipend, for graduate study at any Irish university in any field, tenure "dependent upon the maintenance of a standard of work and conduct"

National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowships

Eligibility: Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens & permanent resident aliens of the U.S. who wish to pursue the Ph.D. in science, engineering or social science. There is a 2-part application process.

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships For New Americans

Award: Tuition grant of 1/2 of the tuition cost

Eligibility: New Americans who hold a green card or have been naturalized as a U.S. citizen or are children of two parents who are both naturalized citizens. Applicant must either have a bachelor's degree or be in final year of undergraduate study. Applicants may also be graduate students and receive Fellowship to continue that study.

The Phillips Foundation Future Leaders Scholarship

Eligibility: Applicants must be at least sophomores and be able to demonstrate that they have campus or community leadership. Students must be American citizens.

Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship

Award: Full support for one year to study abroad

Eligibility: At least 2 years university coursework; students must apply for admission to foreign institution; application through a local Rotary Club is required; applications must be made a year-and-a-half in advance; application deadline varies with local Rotary Club.

Rhodes Scholarship
Sponsor: Cecil Rhodes Foundation
Award: $30,000
Deadline: 10/06/2004
Eligibility: Open to unmarried U.S. citizens under 24 years of age. Most applicants are seniors. Winners have outstanding academic and extracurricular records and have participated in athletics.
