Scholar Development: Internships

The mission of the Internship Program at the Pierre Laclede Honors College is to provide students with concrete experiences that enable them to apply knowledge outside an academic context. The chief liberal-education purpose of an internship is to enrich students' learning. Internships facilitate students' learning by providing an environment for them to make firm connections between their academic leaning and their professional activity. The desire is that they will draw on what they have learned academically to improve and think critically about their functioning as professionals and that they will draw on what they learn in the field setting to correct, illustrate, dramatize, and reorganize their academic learning.
