Vertebrate Physiology BIOL 3802
Lecture Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30 - 10:45 AM

Prerequisites: Biology 1811 & 1821. Development, structure, function, interrelationships,
and zoogeography of vertebrate animals with particular attention to phylogenetic aspects.
Three hours of lecture per week.  Fulfills Science/Math requirement.

Vertebrate Physiology BIOL 3803
Lab, Tuesdays 12:30 - 4:00 PM and 6:55 - 10:25 PM
Stadler Hall 338
Prerequisite: Biology 3802 (may be taken concurrently).
Instrumental and experimental studies in physiology.
Three and one-half hours laboratory per week.

Research BIOL 4905-016
Independent research
Prerequisites: Consent of faculty research advisor: generally restricted to junior and
senior standing. Research in an area selected by the student in consultation with and
under the supervision of a faculty research advisor. Research opportunities are subject
to availability. The project normally includes the reading of pertinent literature, laboratory
or field experience, and a summary paper. Credit arranged. Course may be repeated for
a total of up to five credit hours. Any combination of 2 credit hours may be used to meet
one laboratory course requirement. No more tha 2 credit hours may be applied toward
the minimum number of biology course credits for the major in biology.

Fall Semester

Vertebrate Biology BIOL 2402
Lecture Tyuesdays and Thursdays 8:30 - 9:45 AM
Research Building 121
Prerequisites: Biology 1811 and 1821 and Chemistry 1111 (or Chemistry 1082 & 1091). 
Basic anatomy and evolution of vertebrates. Adaptations and functional aspects of organ
systems and their development. The origin of vertebrates.
Three hours lecture per week. Fulfills Science/Math requirement.

Vertebrate Biology BIOL 2403

ab, Tuesdays 6:55 - 10:25 PM and Thursdays 12:30 - 4:00 PM

Prerequisite: Biology 2402 (may be taken concurrently). Laboratory to accompany
Biology 2402. Morphological analysis and systematic survey of major vertebrate 
groups. Overview of the vertebrate life forms and their adaptations to habitats
and resources.
