English 4950: American Film in the 1930s

Spring 2012

Discussion Board Posting Schedule

Please post on the appropriate MyGateway Discussion Board threads according to the following schedule.

“Posters” can comment on the films or the reading or continue the previous week’s discussions—all topics are open to you.  I will post a question or two that you are welcome to use as a starting point, but you are not obliged to follow my interests.  Feel free to draw on anything and everything we’ve done this semester—film language and conventions, genres, stars, theories, etc. Your post should be substantial (150 words at least), and you should try to frame your observations in a way that will invite further conversation.  Please give your post a revealing title—i.e., something more specific than a movie name (e.g., not “The Wizard of Oz” but “Flying Monkeys and 1930s Labor Issues”).

“Responders  can be briefer, but should reply to at least two posts.  Resters” are of course not prohibited from participating, should they wish to do so.

Remember that the usual classroom guidelines about civility and collegiality apply online as well.
