LGBTQ Resources
Students, faculty, and staff who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer are often minorities within their communities and may feel isolated as a result. The challenges that accompany confusion about gender identity or sexual orientation can be difficult to face individually and we want you know you are not alone. Various groups on the UMSL campus and in the surrounding community look to provide necessary peer support for both those struggling and those who are comfortably out to family and friends.
PRIZM
UMSL’s gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and straight alliance. Our members
are committed to defeating negative GLBT stereotypes and gaining GLBT equality
by hosting social events providing information on relevant issues.

UMSL Safe Zone
The UM-St. Louis Safe Zone program serves to identify and train faculty, staff, and students who are sensitive and affirmative to the needs of sexual minorities, including gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and intersex persons. Our ultimate goal is to reduce the incidence of heterosexism and homophobia on our campus, and thereby promote a campus that is a safer and freer place for all, regardless of sexual orientation.
