Economics 5055: Personal Finance Economics July 28 through August 5, 2008 Beginning with the class of 2010, all high school students in Missouri must complete a one-semester personal finance economics course. Our course, Economics 5055: Personal Finance Economics is designed to help classroom teachers prepare to teach the high school course. We have aligned our course with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s competencies for the high school course. This course will address issues in personal finance economics, including ways to enhance earning capacity, the wise use of credit, the development of prudent spending habits, methods of saving, risk management, and money management. We will include content instruction along with strategies, methods, and lessons for teaching the content in the high school classroom. Course objectives 1. to develop an awareness and understanding of basic concepts in
personal finance This
is a graduate-level, three-credit-hour course. Missouri teachers
are eligible to receive a ½ educational
fee scholarship provided through a grant from the Missouri Council
on Economic
Education.
The number of scholarships is limited. Enroll early.
