CTS Graduate Scholars
Michael is a candidate for PhD in Logistics and Supply Chain Management with expected graduation in December 2011. He has also earned a graduate certificate in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, a Bachelors Degree in International Business, and an MBA. With a professional background in procurement, he has traveled extensively throughout China and speaks Chinese as a second language. He is currently a board member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals-St. Louis Roundtable (CSCMP). Research interests include International SCM, Optimization and Simulation Modeling, Transportation Infrastructure, and Sustainable SCM.
Jeremy is pursuing a PhD in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He currently holds a Masters in Business Administration degree and a Bachelors degree in Management both from Pittsburg State University. From 1999 to 2005, Jeremy served as a Counter Intelligence Agent in the US Army. He was deployed twice during his service in order to perform human intelligence missions and was the rank of Sergeant upon separation from the Army. Research interests include simulation modeling, and supply chain network rationalization and optimization. Jeremy is also a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals.
Wes is pursuing his Ph.D. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. His expected graduation date is May of 2012. He attained his Bachelor of Science degree in Administrative Management from Missouri State University in 2007, as well as his MBA with a Marketing emphasis from Missouri State University in 2008. Prior to joining the Center for Transportation Studies, Wesley worked as a Business Analyst at the brokerage firm Wells Fargo Advisors, formerly known as Wachovia Securities and A.G. Edwards, for over a year. He is a Boeing Scholar, a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, and a member of the national marketing honor society Alpha Mu Alpha.
Will Ellegood is pursuing a PhD in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He currently holds a MBA degree from Ball State University and BS in Mechanical Engineering from GMI – Engineering and Management Institute. He has twelve years of manufacturing experience progressing from Manufacturing Engineer, to Project Manager, to his last position as Vice President of Engineering. For the past five years he has owned and operated his own firm. Research interests include optimization and rationalization modeling, lean operations, and vehicle routing. He will graduate in 2013.
Dorothy is pursuing a PhD in Logistics & Supply Chain Management. She holds an MBA from Durham University Business School in the UK and a bachelor degree in Computer Science from Xi’an Jiaotong University in China. Dorothy has 10+ years of experience in product and industry marketing, market intelligence, and business planning & operation in the Greater China region. She worked as Senior Business Planning Manager for Microsoft prior to joining the Center. Earlier, she worked as Research Director at IDC (a subsidiary of IDG) and Product Marketing Manager at Hewlett-Packard. Her research interests include operation optimization, global SCM and outsourcing.
Jill is pursuing her Ph.D. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Marketing as a supporting field. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Fontbonne University in 2005, and a Masters in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville in 2007. Currently, Jill teaches Marketing courses at Fontbonne University, and serves on various committees and advisory boards. Jill is a Boeing Fellow, a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professional and the American Marketing Association, and a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Gamma Pi and Delta Mu Delta honors societies.
Parimal is pursuing her Ph.D. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. She holds a Master of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology (2009, Rolla) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (2006,India). She worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer for two years. She is currently pursuing research interests in the area of Healthcare related Supply Chain Planning.Parimal is a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals-St. Louis Roundtable (CSCMP).
Graduate Research Assistants
CTS offers a number of Graduate Transportation Scholar Assistantships. Research Assistants develop projects ranging from efficient utilization of public transportation to inventory/order fulfillment analysis. Research Assistants work 20 hours per week and are supported with a tuition waiver and monthly stipends. Both first time applicants and current graduate students at the University of Missouri-St Louis are eligible to apply.

Melis G. Yilmaz
Melis is pursuing her MBA with Logistics and Supply Chain Management emphasis. She received both of her Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering and Master's Degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Istanbul Technical University. With a professional background in procurement, she has traveled extensively throughout China and many European countries. She is currently a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals-St. Louis Roundtable (CSCMP).
Cat is enrolled in the Masters of Accounting program with expected matriculation in fall 2014. Previously, she was at Washington University in St. Louis where she obtained a B.A. in anthropology, classics, and psychology and a Masters of Education. Her work at CTS currently focuses on helping to create a reader of articles on modern freight railroad management. She is a member of the Beta Alpha Psi, the national accounting honorary, and Phi Beta Kappa, the national academic honor society.
Zhan Tao graduated with a Graduate Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in May 2013. She also held an MBA degree and a Graduate Certificate in Marketing in August 2008. She has been employed as a general procurement manager for a Real Estate developer in China. During her research assistantship position at the Center for Transportation Studies, she participated in projects such as the proposal for intermodal hub in St.Louis and the white paper of the freight railway in developing countries.
Tamara is pursuing her MBA with a logistics and supply chain management graduate certificate, and will graduate in May 2013. Her research area at CTS focuses on the freight rail infrastructures of developing countries. Prior to joining the center for transportation studies, Tamara was an MBA intern in the demand driven supply chain group for Emerson Electric. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in management and business administration in Hungary.
Vaishali Shah will be graduating in December 2013 with an MBA with Logistics and Supply Chain Management Emphasis. As a graduate research assistant at Center for Transportation studies she is currently working on surveying airports on a range of topics. In the past, she has worked as a Project Engineer in India. She also has a Masters in Engineering Management from Australia and Bachelors in Engineering from India.
Kartika D. Fransiska
Kartika Fransiska is pursuing her Master of Art in Communication with mass media concentration. She expects to graduate on May 2013. Her work at Center for Transportation Studies focuses on airport parking rates in The U.S. She obtained her Bachelor of Social Science in Communication in University of Indonesia. She previously worked in the radio station and advertising agency in Indonesia.
Yao Zhang is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Information System and expects to graduate in May 2014. She graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with Accounting minor from UMSL in 2012. She previously interned in Scottrade in St. Louis. Currently, she is working at CTS as an administrative and research assistant. Her current research project is taxicab regulations in North America.
