Csapó-Sweet, R., (1996-1997) Protest 96: Revolution in Cyberspace. (Interactive Communication-Art Gallery Exhibition).  Exhibition opened in mid-December in UMSL's Gallery 210, in response to daily street demonstrations in Belgrade, Serbia.  The exhibit Protest 96: Revolution in Cyberspace included images downloaded from the Internet of the demonstrations (blown up to 3x4 feet), artifacts symbolic of the protest movement (TV, radio, whistles, eggs, flowers, etc.), and a computer hooked up to the Internet so that people in St. Louis could log on and communicate directly with protesters in Belgrade; or with the Milosevic government.  For the first time in history the Internet was used as a communication tool to spark and then sustain a revolution in one country while facilitating interaction from all over the world.  This was a radically new, and experimental use of this new information technology.  Funding for project came from: the Department of Communication, the Humanities Center, the Center for International Studies, the Instructional Technology Center, the Art Department, and the College of Arts and Sciences.      After three weeks in Gallery 210, Protest 96: Revolution in Cyberspace invited for one month to the Infomachines Gallery in the St. Louis Science Center.  The St. Louis Science Center is one of the top five science museums in the United States..
