Noncredit Course Information
Noncredit
courses, conferences, and seminars are offered to meet the continuing
education needs of adults and organizations. These activities help
meet the requirements for professional development or licensure
renewal for a number of professions. They demonstrate to employers
the acquisition of new knowledge or competencies needed to qualify
for salary adjustments and promotions and record an employees
efforts to keep abreast of new developments in technology or an
employees areas of responsibility. For many, noncredit programs
offer personal enrichment in the arts and humanities or an opportunity
to participate in discussions of current issues.
Continuing
Education Units (CEUs)
Many noncredit programs offer CEUs as part of a national system
designed to recognize and record individuals efforts to continue
their education outside of traditional credit and degree programs.
Many professional associations, licensing boards, and employers
recognize CEUs as evidence of skill development and professional
improvement.
One CEU is earned for each 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience, under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. CEUs will be kept on record at the University of Missouri. If you wish to receive CEUs, please give your Social Security Number on the registration form.
Income
Tax Deduction
The cost of continuing education is deductible for federal income
tax purposes under certain circumstances. Check with the IRS or
your tax advisor for specific information.
Class
Cancellation, Withdrawal, & Refunds
The University reserves the right to cancel any program. In the
event of cancellation, you will be notified immediately, and all
program fees will be refunded or applied to a future program at
your request. If you must cancel a registration, you are entitled
to a full refund only if you cancel prior to the first class meeting.
Participants who prepay for a Chancellor’s Certificate through the College of Business Administration, Continuing Education, and then are unable to take one or more of the courses are entitled to a refund based on the individual course price for each course taken.
