a noncredit Dean's Certificate Program
This course covers everything you need to know to become a successful, skilled trainer. You will learn by doing through facilitated discussion, skill practice, demonstrations, and self-assessment. This program has been specially designed to pack maximum action and involvement into two days, with practical learning and skill practice you can begin using immediately.
Whether you’re new to training or an experienced trainer looking to enhance your techniques, this course will provide you with information and skills that will make you an effective, skilled trainer.

Faculty
Barbara Carnes, Ph.D., is a consultant, trainer, speaker, and writer. She is the co-author of the books Making Training Stick and Making Training Stick: A Training Transfer Field Guide. Clients include organizations such as the U.S. Army, Hewlett-Packard, St. Louis County Government, General Electric, and NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Barbara holds a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems from The Fielding Institute.
Michael Harris, Ph.D., has served as a trainer, consultant, and expert witness for a wide variety of private-sector, public-sector, and nonprofit organizations. As a trainer, he has conducted classroom training, Web-based training, and satellite training for more than 15 years. He also has made presentations on various human resources management topics to a variety of professional organizations and conferences. He is professor of management at the University of Missouri–St. Louis and is currently a Fellow in the Center for International Studies and the International Business Institute.
Certificate Requirements
Complete the 13 hours of training and you will be awarded 1.3 Continuing Education Units and a noncredit Dean’s Certificate in Training for Trainers from the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
