REVOLUTION IN CYBERSPACE

December 1996 through February 1997

Interactive Internet Exhibition curated by Professor Rita M. Csapo-Sweet

Students at the University of Belgrade in December 1996 logged onto the Internet to protest military strongman, Slobodan Milosevic stopping the first democratically elected local government in Republika Serbska from  taking office in Belgrade.

For the first time, the Internet was used to bring a  popular, democratic street demonstrations onto the world stage through Cyberspace by the demonstrators.  Gallery 210 at UM-St. Louis was among the few sites that interacted live with the Belgrade demonstrators.

Milosevic gave into some demands by March 1997.
