Program Schedule

Moscow School of Political Studies
April 25 – May 2, 2009

The Center for International Studies at the University of Missouri – St. Louis, in conjunction with the Supporters of Civil Society in Russia, welcomes you to St. Louis.  Since 2004, UM – St. Louis has hosted several delegations from the Moscow School of Political Studies.  For the last three years, this program has been implemented in partnership with the Open World Leadership Center at the Library of Congress (www.openworld.gov). This unique program allows the delegates ample opportunity to meet with state and local officials as well as community and civic leaders from the public, profit, and non-profit sectors.   The intimate settings of these meeting allow for candid discussions on a variety of topics.  That is not to say that the program is all business.  The delegates also visit several local sites, including the Gateway Arch, the Missouri Botanical Gardens, the Anheuser-Busch Brewery, and other local and commercial centers.  It is truly amazing how much the program accomplishes in one week.   We believe that the intensive and diverse training offered through this program provides an understanding of local, regional, and state level governance. It offers practical applications that participants can apply to work in their home communities. It is an excellent foundation for the development of civil society in Russia.  The St. Louis Metropolitan Area is a great slice of American life and the perfect place to learn more about Federalism in America.
