Adam Riess et al. (April 2001 ) Detection of a SN-Ia at ultra-high z = 1.7 in the decelerating epoch
SN 1997ff Serendipitously recorded by HST R(t*)/R (t0 )= 1/(1+ z) ? 1/3, t*/t0 ? 1/4 ? 10 billion lightyrs away (by far the most distant SN ever detected)
Instead of dimming further, it’s BRIGHTER by almost a factor of 2, compared to the expectation of continual dimming
I.e., evidence for the bulge in the Hubble curve!
