Ph.D. Student Bio & Interests
John Michael Vecchio
Mike was accepted into the UMSL Criminology and Criminal Justice doctoral program in 2008. He came to St Louis from Bowling Green State University after completing his BS and MS in criminal justice. His masters thesis explored the victim-offender overlap in a northern Ohio youth sample.
Mike's research interests include youth violence, victimization, and gangs. He serves as a research assistant on the National Evaluation of the Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) program.
He is also the current Editor of The MCJA Minute, the semiannual electronic newsletter of the Midwestern Criminal Justice Association.
