Andrea Nichols, Ph.D Candidate
Andrea entered the UMSL Criminology & Criminal Justice Doctoral program in August 2004 after completing her M.A. in Sociology at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2001. She is currently ABD, and working on her dissertation. Andrea’s primary research interests include gender and crime/victimization, victim advocacy, organizations, public policy, feminist theory, and qualitative research methods.
She is currently working on her dissertation, entitled “The Community Based Response to Domestic Violence: An Examination of Collaborative Networks.” Other recent work includes a theoretical analysis of gendered organizations in the domestic violence movement and an examination of police abuses against transgender sex workers.
