Ph.D. Student Bio & Interests
Jennifer Cobbina, Ph.D. Candidate
Jennifer’s current research interests focus on prisoner reentry, recidivism, and corrections. Her dissertation research explores how female parolees manage their release from prison, the factors that contribute to their involvement in crime, and the factors that facilitate reintegration into the community. This study provides a comparative analysis of those factors that contribute to women's continued offending upon release from prison and those that assist women in desisting from crime post-incarceration. Members of Jennifer's dissertation committee include Drs. Jody Miller (Chair), Beth Huebner, Richard Wright and Patricia O'Brien.
She was recently awarded the NIJ Graduate Research Fellowship in the amount of $20,000 dollars. She is expected to graduate in May, 2009.
