Psychology Study Abroad

UMSL students traveled to Athens and Thessaloniki Greece in Summer 2016 and from Northern to Southern Italy in Summer 2017. Here a few students describe their first Study Abroad experience.

Paul Greenley, Italy 2017

"If you have never traveled to another country before, study abroad is the way to travel. Not only will you be fully emerged in another culture, you will learn a ton in a short amount of time and make friends for life with the people you travel with. Dr. Casad is a blast to travel with and fits in well with the students."

Christine White, Italy 2017

"Buongiorno! An experience that is locked in my memory for life! I went to Italy to learn about diversity. I actually learned how similar the Italians are to Americans. The experience opened my thoughts on the next study abroad excursion! In my opinion, every college student should have first hand experience in studying and experiencing a different culture."

Drake Anderson, Italy 2017

"Before traveling to Italy I had never been on a plane let alone in another country. Experiencing another culture first hand and seeing monuments like the leaning tower of Pisa, and sites like Pompeii, that I have learned about since I was young was surreal and will leave a lasting impact on me. The students I traveled with are still my friends to this day."

Savannah Price, Italy 2017

"Italy was not the first country I've traveled to, but I definitely got the most out of my short time there. Our group, made up of students from all over the United States, had so much fun visiting all of the main attractions of Italy and became close friends. I believe everyone needs to study abroad at least once during their college years. After this summer abroad I will also be abroad for a couple of weeks in Belgium and Germany and next summer in Spain for research in psychology and political science!"

        Annie Manwarring, Greece 2016

"I have traveled abroad before, but my other trips were not quite like this one. It was great having a Greek tour guide to show us around and give us recommendations. The food was also great (and there were a lot of cute cats :)."

        Mindy Siebert, Greece 2016

"Study abroad was an amazing opportunity to travel to new places and experience new cultures. I had a great time learning and spending time with other students. Study abroad was one of the best college memories I have and it sparked the 'travel bug' in me, now I want to see the rest of the world!"

        Beth Wiese, Greece 2016

"Greece was a trip of a lifetime! I learned so much and made friends and memories that will last a lifetime! I would recommend study abroad to everyone!"
