Fall 2009 Committees
All Beta Alpha Psi student members and candidates are required to serve on at least one SERVICE committee and one NON-SERVICE committee during fall 2009. Those seeking Superior Beta status must also chair/co-chair a committee (service or non-service). Committee chair/co-chair positions are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
DUTIES OF COMMITTEE CHAIR/CO-CHAIRS:
1. Take initiative to define committee goals early in the semester.
2. Clearly communicate committee goals to other committee members and coordinate team efforts to accomplish such goals.
3. Promptly (within 24 to 48 hours) reply to all e-mails and/or phone calls related to committee business.
4. Update BAP members via e-mail and/or before professional meetings as to committee status.
5. Submit final committee report within 3 days of completing event.

SERVICE COMMITTEES |
Accounting Resource Lab / Tutoring Committee
Committee members tutor undergraduate accounting students in managerial and financial accounting concepts in the Accounting Resource Lab (SSB 489). The current lab hours are:
Monday/Wednesday:
9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday:
9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 3:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Thursday:
12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The committee is active for the entire Semester
Bikers for Babies
Committee members perform basic accounting functions during the event, such as handling cash transactions, registering walkers and processing donations for deposit.
The event takes place October 11 and 12.
Autism Walk
Committee members shall perform basic accounting functions during the event, such as handling cash transactions, registering walkers and processing donations for deposit.
The event takes place on October 10
Habitat for Humanity
Committee will assist with the building of a home in the JeffVanderLou Neighborhood. Event begins by 7:45 AM and runs until 4:00/4:30 PM, or whenever the work for the day is complete.
The event takes place on September 19.
Boy Scout Food Drive
Committee members will package donated food collected by local boy scouts.

NON-SERVICE COMMITTEES |
Commencement Committee
Committee members assist UMSL staff during the Fall graduation ceremonies. Duties may include coat check, passing out programs to incoming attendees, assisting graduates with stage photos and setting up for the next ceremony.

Bio/Alumni/ Photography Committee
Committee members shall update the BAP bulletin board, take photographs at meetings and committee events, upload and organize photographs to BAP library computer, create/update member biographies and promote usage of LinkedIn by the members.
Committee is active the entire semester
Food/Library Cleanup Committee
Committee members will coordinate providing food at BAP meetings and some event dates, as well as ensure the BAP library is kept tidy.
In other years, committee members shall attend the Regional Conference and prepare Gamma Psi chapter submissions for various competitions.

Bowling With The Firms Committee (CLOSED)
Bowling with the Firms is a social event that allows BAP members to meet potential future employers for a fun night at the bowling alley! Committee members are responsible for selecting firms to invite, contacting those firms and coordinating attendance, booking event location, coordinating food/catering, preparing event invitations/flyers for BAP members, faculty members and accounting club, and sending post-event thank you letters to firms.
Committee is active January 2009 through event date (TBD).
Officer Installation / Initiation Banquet Committee (CLOSED)
Committee members will assist with the organization of the banquet to initiate candidates into Beta Alpha Psi, install the present semester¡¯s officers and recognize Superior Betas. Duties include preparing and circulating invitations, tracking RSVPs, collecting guest fees, and coordinating the printing of programs and certificates.
Committee is active through February 8, 2009.
Social Events Committee
Committee members shall organize a Faculty Appreciation Luncheon for COBA and accounting faculty/professors. Duties include working with the faculty advisors to create a guest list, preparing and distributing invitations, securing venue, and organizing catering/food. In the past, committee members have also applied a theme to the luncheon to make it more festive and have decorated accordingly.
Committee members shall also organize a Cardinal¡¯s Tailgate Party and be responsible for selling tickets to the event and cooking at the BBQ.
Committee members shall also organize a spring party for BAP members and be responsible for coordinating selection and reservation of venue, menu budget, invitations and announcements.
Committee is active February 8, 2009 through event dates (TBD).
Nominating / Bylaws and BAP Library Housekeeping Committee
Committee members will review current national BAP Bylaws/Constitution on a semester basis for relevant amendments and determine effect of same on current chapter BAP Bylaws/Constitution, drafting changes when necessary. Other duties include soliciting proposed amendments to Bylaws/Constitution from members and timely communicating same to membership for review, conducting membership vote on any amendments and ensuring quorum, and updating chapter website/MyGateway and UMSL Student Life with any amended Bylaws/Constitution.
Committee members shall also be responsible for coordinating officer nominations, vetting nominees and conducting end-of-semester elections.
Lastly, committee members shall tidy the BAP library on a weekly basis.
Committee is active from February 8, 2009 through May 2, 2009.
University Expo / Mirth Day Committee (CLOSED)
The University Expo is a showcase of organizations, departments and services available at UMSL and takes place on January 20th. Committee members shall be responsible with organizing and staffing a booth to represent Beta Alpha Psi at the event.
Mirth Day is UM-St. Louis¡¯s annual spring carnival, which will occur this semester on April 15th. Committee members shall be responsible for maintaining a booth during the event to promote Beta Alpha Psi and will plan games with prizes to keep visitors entertained. Other duties include reserving, decorating and staffing a booth and checking BAP¡¯s inbox at Student Life for event-related correspondence.
Committee is active from December 2009 through April 15, 2009.
Accounting Networking Night
Committee members shall coordinate a ¡°meet the firms¡± night that provides UM-St. Louis students the opportunity to meet and greet local CPA firms, governmental agencies, not-for-profit corporations and CPA exam review firms. Duties include scheduling event, recruiting firms to attend and promoting the event on campus.
Committee is active from May 2009 through event date in September 2009 (TBD). Spring semester will require attention of Chair and one committee member only, but committee will require attention of all members during summer months.
