Conclusion

A solid understanding of an organization's business is important for Requirements Structuring. In particular, an analyst's ability to create an effective conceptual data model will be impacted by her understanding of the relevant business domain. While information technologies continue to advance and impress us with their evolving features, analysts must remain cognizant of the fact that information systems are a means to an end: these systems primarily serve to facilitate a business need.

As such, an analyst should always approach systems analysis with a business mindset; doing this will provide the analyst with the necessary foundation to create effective and cost-efficient conceptual data models.
