Students
are using Classical Greek Literature (the Illiad
and the Oddysey) and Greek Mythology in order to study HUMAN NATURE. Nowhere
else are the defining virtues (Pride-Self Worth, Honor, Integrity, Strength,
and Knowledge) and vices (Arrogance, Greece, Jealousy, Impulsiveness, and
Vanity) of man on display and interwoven in such a compelling, entertaining,
and thought-provoking setting as they are in these Greek Classics!!. This
study of Literature and Cultural History, beneficial in its own right, forms
a backdrop for viewing and reflecting on both Current Events (National and
International news) as well as early adolescent development ( the children
ARE growing up during the middle of Middle School). Students will also study
the Political and Military History of Ancient Greece during this month. |
