OLD LANDMARK IS BEING WRECKED

That is what the headline in the July 7, 1959, Globe-Democrat stated as the Empire Wrecking Company of Cincinnati began demolition of the Pine Street Hotel. The razing of the building had begun on 6 July 1959, after the Land Clearance Authority had purchased the building in May of that year.
