ST. MARY OF VICTORIES CATHOLIC CHURCH

St. Mary of Victories is the second oldest Catholic church in the city of St. Louis. It was built in 1843 for the German-speaking Catholic immigrants in the Chouteau's Landing neighborhood. During the 1900s, however, the parishoners began leaving the neighborhood for the suburbs. Despite renovations, the church faced hard times. St. Mary was finally able to find a new calling in the 1950s, however, serving the new Hungarian immigrants of St. Louis.
