SSL On Mac Mail Clients

Switching to Secure Socket Layer (SSL) on Mail Clients on a Mac

Mac Mail 2.0 – IMAP or POP

1. Click on “Mail” then “Preferences”.
2. Click on “Accounts” then “IMAP” or “POP” account, which ever applicable.
3. Click on the “Advanced” tab.
4. Check the box next to “Use SSL”.
5. Close out of “Accounts”.

Entourage 2004 – IMAP or POP

1. Click on “Entourage” then “Account Settings”.
2. Highlight the appropriate account, IMAP or POP and click on “Edit”.

1. In “Account Settings”, under “Receiving mail”, click on “Click here for advanced receiving options”.
2. Check the box next to “This (IMAP or POP) service requires a secure connection (SSL)”.

1. Under “Sending mail”, click on “Click here for advanced sending options”.
2. Check the box next to “SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL)”.
3. Click on “OK” to close.

Eudora 6.2 – IMAP or POP

1. Click on “Eudora” then “Preferences”.
2. Select “SSL” and select “Required (Alternate Port)” from the drop down menu next to “SSL for POP” or “SSL for IMAP”, which ever applicable, and then click on “OK” to close.
