Workshops, Training & Online Courses

Workshops and Training

Software training workshops are offered on a variety of topics. These workshops are free, instructor-led and give you hands on experience. To check the schedule and register for a workshop, login to: http://www.umsl.edu/training

Another way to find information about workshops is to select the campus calendar link from the UMSL home page and then select to view events by "Workshops/Training".

Microsoft Courses On-Line

Faculty, staff and students can access the Microsoft eLearning Library (MELL). This library is a collection of end-user and technical on-line, self-paced courses for Microsoft software products. These courses are offered to you free of charge.

You can access the courses with your SSO/Gateway ID from any University-owned, on-campus computer that is connected to our wired Ethernet network. Students can take advantage of these courses from any campus lab machine.

Using Internet Explorer, go to: http://mell.umsystem.edu to take a course or to see a listing of available courses. Additional information about using the MELL courses can be found at: http://www.umsl.edu/technology/training.

Focus on the Future Development Program

The Staff Association sponsors a personal and professional development program. This program is usually offered during spring break and offers a variety of free workshops for faculty and staff. Information can be found at: http://www.umsl.edu/services/future.

Instructional Computing Short Courses

IC Labs offers "short courses" during the Fall and Spring Semesters. They are designed to introduce students to a variety of campus software and computing topics. Some of our courses are for the true computer novice; others are designed for more advanced users. No courses are offered during Summer semesters.

Instructional Computing Fridays

Instructional Computing is also offering "Instructional Computing Fridays" through the Fall and Spring semesters. Instructional Computing Fridays offer 2 courses taught per week that alternate through most of the topics offered. These courses are all taught between 10:00am-11:00am & 11:00am-12:00pm. Exact dates, times, and courses taught are available at: http://www umsl.edu/training.

The courses are free, but we do ask that you sign up in advance. If you have any questions, please email Instructional Computing at: iclabs@umsl.edu.
