Telephone Services

Features (Single-line phones):

Call Forwarding:  To forward all your calls to another on-campus extension, dial #+1+four digit extension number. To deactivate, dial #+1.

Call Waiting:  If you have call waiting and you are on a call and another call is made to your telephone, you will hear a tone in the receiver.  Press the TAP/FLASH/LINK key to place the current call on hold and accept the second call.  Press the TAP/FLASH/LINK key to return to the original call.

Ring Again:  This feature notifies you when a busy number within the UM-St. Louis telephone system is no longer busy.  When you hear a busy signal, press the TAP/FLASH/LINK key, dial 211 and hang up.  The phone will ring back in short bursts, pick up the receiver and your call will be connected.  To cancel ring-again, dial 212.

Call Park: To park at your extension, press TAP button, hear dial tone, dial 2171, hang up. To park at other extension, press TAP button, hear dial tone, dial 2171 and 4 digit extension number, hang up. To retrieve, lift handset, dial 2172 and 4 digit extension number on which call is parked.

Call Pickup: To respond or use feature, lift handset, dial 213.

Three-Way Calling:  This feature allows you to have a conversation with two other parties, either on or off campus.  To use this feature, dial the first party, press the TAP/FLASH/LINK key, dial the second party and press the TAP/FLASH/LINK key after the second party answers.

Authorization Code: An authorization code can be requested from Telephone Services for use on restricted phones in order to dial long distance. To use an authorization code, dial “216 + authorization code + 9-1-xxx-xxx-xxxx".

 

Features (Multi-Line Phones):  (M2616)

Call Forwarding:  To forward all your calls to another on-campus extension, press the Call Forward key, dial the four digit extension number and press the Call Forward key again.  To deactivate press the Call Forward key once.  To reactivate press the Call Forward key twice.

Call Waiting:  If you have call waiting and you are on a call and another call is made to your telephone, you will hear a tone in the receiver.  Put the first caller on hold by pressing the Hold key and press the Call Waiting key to accept the second call.  Press the Hold key if you want to put the second call on hold, or Release to end the second call.  Press the DN key associated with the first call.

If you don’t have a Call Waiting key and you hear the Call Waiting tone, end your current call and Replace the handset or press Release.  When the telephone rings, press the DN key beside the flashing LCD indicator to answer the incoming call.

Ring Again:  This feature notifies you when a busy number within the UM-St. Louis telephone system is no longer busy.  When you hear a busy signal, press your Ring Again key.  Replace the handset or press Release.  The phone will ring back in short bursts, pick up the receiver or press the DN key.  Press the Ring Again key to automatically redial the number.  To cancel Ring Again press the Ring Again key.

Six-Way Calling:    This feature allows you to have a conversation with up to six people including yourself, either on or off campus.  To use this feature, dial the first party, press the Conference key.  The other party is on hold and you receive dial tone.  Dial the next number to add to the conference.  When the call is answered, you may talk privately with the person before they join the conference.  Press conference again to join all callers.  Repeat the procedure to include up to six people in the conference.  (Five plus the caller).  If the person you are adding to the conference is not available.  Press the DN key with the flashing indicator.

Features:  (Multi-Line Phones) (M3903 and M3904)

Call Forwarding:  To forward all your calls to another on-campus extension, press the Forward key, dial the four digit extension number and press the Forward key again.  To view the number that your calls are being forwarded to:  Press the Check Forward key.  This action displays the Forward number and gives you an option to Cancel Forward or Exit the Display leaving the Call Forward active.  To cancel Call Forward, press the Check Forward key and press the Cancel Forward key.  To reinstate Call Forward to the same number, press the Forward key twice.

Call Waiting:  If you have call waiting and you are on a call and another call is made to your telephone, you will hear a tone in the receiver.  Press the Hold key when you hear the tone.  The Call Waiting status icon appears in the display.  Press the Call Wait key to answer the call.  To return to your first telephone call:  Press the Hold key, if you want to put the second call on hold,  or press the Goodbye key to end the second call.    Press the Line DN key associated with the first call.  If you do not have a Call Waiting key and you hear the Call Waiting tone, press the Goodbye key to end your current call.  Press the Line (DN) key beside the status icon to answer the incoming call.

Ring Again:  This feature notifies you when a busy number within the UM-St. Louis telephone system is no longer busy.  When you hear a busy signal, press the Ring Again key.  The phone will ring back in short bursts when the person is available.  Lift the handset, press the Ring Again key to automatically redial the number.  To cancel Ring Again before notification press the Ring Again key a second time.

Six-Way Calling:  This feature allows you to have a conversation with up to six people including yourself, either on or off campus.  To use this feature, dial the first party, press the Conference key.  The other party is on hold and you receive dial tone.  The screen displays Call on hold, dial number.  Dial the number of the person you want to add to the conference.  Press the Swap key to switch between talking with the original caller and the new caller.  Press the Connect key to complete the conference.  Everyone is able to join the conference.  If the person you attempt to add to the conference is unavailable:  Press the Goodbye key.  Press the Line DN key with the flashing icon to return to your original caller.
