Please visit the ShoreTel Options form at: www.umsl.edu/shoreteloptions to change the way your name appears in Caller ID, to have your voice mail messages sent to you via email, or to have your extension revert to another number when 0 is pressed during your greeting,

ALERT - ShoreTel Voicemail is coming!!
Be sure to read this email in its entirety for new instructions to access your voicemail after the move.

It is time to move all current voicemail users from the existing CallPilot voicemail system to the new ShoreTel Voicemail system per the outage notification belowAfter the voicemail is moved, Telephone Services will begin migrating the telephone handsets.  The goal to complete the handset migration is the end of the calendar year.

OUTAGE NOTIFCATION:  Telephone Services – VOICEMAIL

WHEN:  Friday, September 28, 2012, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
UNTIL:  Friday, September 28, 2012, ending at 11:59 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:  Telephone Services will move all current CallPilot voicemail users and voice menu services to the new ShoreTel voicemail system beginning Friday evening, September 28, at 5:30 p.m.
                                                                                                            
WHAT IS AFFECTED:  Voicemail, voicemail greetings, and voicemail menus from either system will be unavailable during this period. 

CallPilot Voicemail:

After completion of the voicemail move, no new messages will be left on the CallPilot system.   If you have new, unheard messages prior to the outage, your message waiting light will no longer be lit for those messages.  Please dial x4200 (314-516-4200 from off campus) to see if you have new messages or to listen to old, saved messages.   The CallPilot system will be accessible at x4200 until the completion of the handset migration to ShoreTel IP phones. 

ShoreTel Voicemail:

Prior to Friday, September 28 at 5:30 p.m.
You may set up your ShoreTel voice mailbox in advance (set a new password, record your name and/or personal greeting) by dialing x1967 (or 314-516-1967 from off campus).  Basic instructions to login:

  • Dial in to x1967 (314-516-1967 from off campus).
  • Enter your current extension number (do not press #).
  • Enter the default password (1234) followed by #.
  • Change your password when prompted.
  • Record your name when prompted.
  • Go to www.umsl.edu/voicemail for documentation:
    • Follow the instructions in UMSL’s Quick Reference Guide to ShoreTel Voicemail) to help you change your password and record your name. 
    • Follow the instructions in ShoreTel Voicemail FAQ’sHow do I record an “Internal” and/or “External” Greeting to record your personal greeting.

No voicemails will be sent to this ShoreTel mailbox until after the move is completed.  Extension 1967 is a temporary extension and will no longer be used after 5:30 p.m. on Friday, September 28.

Beginning Saturday, September 29 at 12:00 a.m.
You may access your ShoreTel voice mailbox by dialing x6600 (314-516-6600 from off campus).  Basic instructions to login:

  • Dial in to x6600 (314-516-6600 from off campus).
  • Enter your current extension number (do not press #).
  • Enter the default password (1234) followed by #.
  • Change your password when prompted.
  • Record your name when prompted.
  • Press 1 to hear new messages.
  • Go to www.umsl.edu/voicemail for documentation (UMSL’s Quick Reference Guide to ShoreTel Voicemail and ShoreTel Voicemail FAQ’s) to help you access your ShoreTel voicemail and use other options.

General Information:

  • If you encounter a “busy” signal when dialing x6600, it will be due to a high volume of calls during the first few days after the move, so please try again.
  • Your message waiting light will be lit if you have any new messages in your ShoreTel voice mailbox.
  • Please call x6600 (or press the Message button on your telephone, if you have one) to access your ShoreTel voice mailbox and retrieve any new messages.
  • Please call x4200 to access your CallPilot voice mailbox and retrieve any new messages left prior to 5:30 p.m., Friday, September 28, or listen to any old, saved messages. 
  • We recommend that you set your new password to be the same as your current CallPilot password so that you will only need to remember one password for either mailbox.
  • Please note that there is a “default” personal greeting that will play until you are able to record a new personal greeting for your mailbox.  After you have recorded your name, the default greeting will play “[Name] is not available.  Please leave a message after the tone.  When finished you may hang up or press # for additional options.”
  • For assistance, call Telephone Services (x6500) or the Help Desk (x6034).  The Help Desk will put in a ticket for Telephone Services to return your call.
  • For updated information, click on this link (www.umsl.edu/voicemail). 

Changes you will notice:

  • Extension 6601 (Express Messaging) will no longer be valid.   To send an express message in ShoreTel, log in to the voicemail system.   See How do I send an “Express Message” on the FAQ document found at www.umsl.edu/voicemail .
  • Any personal distribution lists created in CallPilot will no longer be available.  If you need to create a personal distribution list, please contact Telephone Services for assistance.   
  • You will need to set a new password and create a new greeting for your ShoreTel voice mailbox.  See  How do I change my password and How do I record an “Internal” and/or “External” Greeting on the FAQ document found at www.umsl.edu/voicemail .
